SACRED MUSIC HOURS. AD LUCEM
MATEUSZ RZEWUSKI (organ, Poland) Not everything to be performed in this concert is written in the score. Here, Mateusz Rzewuski will reveal himself not only as an exceptional virtuoso, but also as a talented improviser. One of Poland's most active organists, he studied performance art in Warsaw (at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music) and Lübeck, deepened his skills in the art of improvisation in Paris, where he obtained a "Concertiste" diploma, and specialized in early music in Basel. This diverse experience has shaped the performer's unique style, which captivates both professionals and the public. His concert routes stretch from the great cathedrals of Europe to concert halls in the USA and Asia. Thus, his stop in Vilnius is a truly joyful event. Here, Rzewuski will present a unique dialogue between eras and styles: the works of Johann Gottfried Walther and Johann Sebastian Bach highlight architectural thinking, while the pieces by Mieczysław Surzyński and Alexandre Guilmant evoke a romantic spirit. However, the most important part of this evening is improvisation. Two of the organist's own opuses will be born right here, based on the motifs of Regina Coeli and Salve Regina. Whether they will become the icing on the cake of the program is for you to judge. On the program: Johann Gottfried Walther, Johann Sebastian Bach, Mieczysław Surzyński, etc. Free admission
