This journey begins at the monument to King Mindaugas, where the very foundations of our state were laid—and dare I say, they were rock-solid Samogitian! After all, our great rulers—from Mindaugas and Gediminas to Vytautas—built their power on the loyalty and unbreakable strength of the Samogitians! Do you think Vilnius is just about grand dukes' dreams and Baroque curves? What if I told you that without Samogitian stubbornness, Vilnius would sound completely different today: from the dust on Simonas Daukantas's shoes to the intrigues of Žemaitė's "headscarf" and the tough characters who shaped the capital? And what if the Lithuanian cultural movement of Samogitian nobles at Vilnius University in the early 19th century hadn't been "extinguished" by the university's closure, and had instead grown into a massive national revival with a powerful Samogitian code?!
