September 1st Celebration on the Museum Roof

On September 1st, we will celebrate the start of the new school year together, on the museum roof, which offers the most beautiful views of Vilnius’ rooftops and towers. This year we have prepared enriching activities for you, with something to do for both children and adults: Science experiments 11:00–15:00 | Museum roof Did you know that liquid nitrogen is so cold (-196 °C) that if you freeze a flower blossom in it, it will shatter like fragile glass? A nitrogen show and (safe) experiments with fire await you on the museum roof! Tour “A Day at the Power Plant” 11:00 and 15:00 | Tour starts in the Boiler Hall Visitors joining the themed tour of the first power plant in the city of Vilnius will learn about the processes, equipment, and history of the power plant. Modern interactive tools and lively games are used during the activity. “Rocket” educational activity 11:00–15:00 | Boiler Hall Interested in space and what’s going on out there? Great, because our guides will be happy to tell you all about it, and afterwards you will build a rocket together, which you will then try to launch into space yourselves. 3D pens 11:00–15:00 | Museum roof Using 3D pens, you will be able to create a unique handmade piece to take home. This activity develops fine motor skills and helps with concentration, or even with relaxation. Water foam 11:00–15:00 | Museum roof Weather permitting, children will be able to blow giant soap bubbles and dance in water foam all day long. To take part in this activity and get the best experience, we recommend bringing swimwear and towels. Game “The Lost Energy” 12:00–14:00 | Condenser Hall During the game in the Condenser Hall, visitors equipped with helmets, cyclops goggles, and vests will search for fragments of a story in a dark space and, following the numbering, piece them together into a shared narrative. Register here. “Dainuojam” Choir voice workshop 15:00 | Museum roof Everyone who loves, or wants to learn to love, singing and their own voice is invited to the workshop, during which we will come together as a choir and learn to accept our voices and use them freely. Even if we don’t sound perfect – what matters is that we sing. Everyone is welcome: children, young people, adults, and seniors – the most important thing is the desire to be together and a love of music. The museum will be open from 10:00 to 18:30. Supported by the Vilnius City Municipality.
