"Skalvija" Invites: "On the Road" Film Program

Summer, travels, open windows, the smell of dust from a gravel road, hair blowing in the wind. We probably couldn't find a more suitable time for the "On the Road" film program. After including the film "My Own Private Idaho" in our classic cinema evenings program, we decided to show more films that could be described as road movies. Their focus is often not the final destination, but the journey itself. Characters leave their ordinary lives, social roles, identity, and embark on a journey that becomes a kind of space for transformation. On the road, they encounter other people, unexpected situations, and their own inner conflicts. Road movies often depict freedom, rebellion, self-discovery, or escape from societal norms, and the journey itself also functions as a variation of traditional storytelling.
