Skriaudžiai Ensemble "Kanklės" Concert | Museum Night at LNM 2026

We invite you to the concert of the Skriaudžiai ensemble "Kanklės"! This is the oldest folk art collective in Lithuania, celebrating its 120th anniversary this year. Its repertoire consists of local vocal and instrumental folklore, music recorded, adapted for kanklės, or created by the ensemble's leaders – Pranas Puskunigis, Leonas Puskunigis, Antanas Degutis – as well as songs and hymns by Adelė Kazlauskienė, the queen of songs. The people of Skriaudžiai consider kanklės a family relic: by spreading the traditional repertoire and maintaining an archaic playing technique, they preserve a spiritual connection with the past and pass on the mark of their Suvalkija identity to the younger generation. In 2026, the tradition "Skriaudžiai kanklės: a century-old music-making tradition" was inscribed in the Register of Intangible Cultural Heritage Values of Lithuania.
