“The Smart Hat” – a theatrical performance based on a Japanese fairy tale

This is a story where a book becomes a hat, and a hat becomes the key to a new world. In this performance, an old book is not only a source of wisdom, but also a magical hat that allows us to hear what we usually do not. Through the medium of object theatre, the spirit of Japanese fairy tales is playfully brought to life – everyday objects turn into characters, and their stories invite the audience on a journey full of imagination. The sustainable set design is made from old, outdated books that, instead of ending up in the bin, find a second life on stage as works of art. It is a calm, sensitive story suitable for all audiences, including neurodivergent children – free of intense elements, accompanied by gentle music and a warm, sincere connection between the actress and the audience. Director, set designer, actress: Saulė Degutytė Composer, performer: Gediminas Žilys Lighting designer: Rimas Molis For children aged 4 and up.
