SPEKTRAS. Invisible Stories

The play "Spektras" invites us to look closely at our diversity – our ability to see, hear, and feel the world differently. Created using the principles of the "Atviras ratas" theatre laboratory, this performance is based on real people's stories, actors' improvisations born during rehearsals, and incorporates elements of storytelling. It encourages us to pause and notice stories we often overlook, and to listen to voices we don't hear in our daily lives. Director Justas Tertelis, the actors, and the entire creative team explore the unique worlds of neurodivergent people, inviting us to see neurotypical individuals from a different perspective – to broaden our understanding and rethink the boundaries of normality. In "Spektras," we will experience a full palette of narratives that will help melt away stereotypes about autistic people and gain a deeper understanding of the world around us. The play is based on the book "Autizmas – dalis manęs" (Autism – A Part of Me) by Jurgita Žalgirytė-Skurdenienė and Barbora Suisse. This book is arguably the first in Lithuania to present the stories of autistic adults, offering a better understanding of the daily lives of individuals living with autism spectrum disorder – the challenges they face and the ways they overcome them.
