Today, we can't imagine our lives without šaltibarščiai, and for several years now, we've been starting the summer season with a cheerful Šaltibarščiai Festival. Šaltibarščiai are mentioned in written sources as early as the 17th century, and the poet A. Mickevičius refers to them in his work "Pan Tadeusz". But were the old šaltibarščiai the same rich pink color? What ingredients did the ruler's chef P. Tremo use? What recipe did his student J. Szyttleris leave behind?
