Textile Restoration Workshops – Weaving Education for Braided and Tablet-Woven Bands

The Lithuanian National Museum invites you to discover the tablet-woven bands characteristic of Lithuania Minor and the braided bands of Aukštaitija, and to experience weaving them yourself. During the workshops, participants will be briefly introduced to examples of the ornamentation, colour palettes, and pick-up weaving technique of these bands. Masters Lina Ausiejienė and Daiva Šopienė from the LNM Textile Restoration Workshops will invite participants to try weaving their own tablet-woven band on a small loom, or a braided band using card tablets. This educational event accompanies the exhibition "On the Wave of Paris Exhibitions: Ethnography, Cultural Diplomacy and Identity". Places are very limited. The event is free of charge; registration is required here. Session duration up to 2 hours.
