The Cinematic Orchestra - Vilnius

British masters of modern jazz and electronic music, The Cinematic Orchestra, return to Vilnius this autumn. On October 9, they will perform their only show in the Baltic States at the Compensa Concert Hall. A great reason to look forward to autumn – thanks to music agency 8 Days A Week. The band is briefly stepping out of the studio, where their new album is currently being created, to embark on a limited European tour. New members have joined the collective and will also be performing in the capital. On stage, we will see founder and leader Jason Swinscoe, keyboardist Al MacSween, drummer Ellis Dupuy (yes, the same one who plays with Nilüfer Yanya!) and bassist Vini Cajado. The Cinematic Orchestra's concerts are a true live cinematic experience. Carefully selected visuals don't just decorate the background; they elevate the musical ideas, merging sound and image into a seamless, cinematic journey. The press speaks of them with respect: The Guardian highlights their refined, understated electronics, NME calls the band elegant, intellectual, and emotional, while Pitchfork simply describes them as majestic. The Cinematic Orchestra releases music through the influential Ninja Tune – a clear mark of quality. For over two decades, The Cinematic Orchestra has been crafting a distinctive soundscape between jazz and electronics. Jason Swinscoe assembled experienced instrumentalists who draw inspiration from jazz traditions and interpret them in a contemporary way. Their influence is felt among many contemporary jazz and hip-hop artists: Kendrick Lamar, Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, Sons of Kemet, BadBadNotGood, Floating Points, Ólafur Arnalds, and others. The band has performed in prestigious venues worldwide: from sold-out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Paris Philharmonic, and Parco della Musica in Rome, to the Sydney Opera House. They also appeared at the US Directors Guild Awards, dedicated to the life's work of Stanley Kubrick. The Cinematic Orchestra teaches us to listen slowly and attentively: their compositions layer gradually, creating an atmosphere, a dreamlike soundscape.
