The Fascinating World of Fungi

Markučiai Manor is currently hosting the exhibition "Konstantino Prošinskio fenomenas: grybų piešiniai," showcasing reproductions of Konstantinas Prošinskis' mushroom watercolors. We invite you to explore not only the scientific value of these drawings but also to discover the mysterious and unexpected world of fungi together with mycologist Dr. Jonas Kasparavičius. We will explore everything from mycelial hyphae to the mushroom cap: how, when, and where fungi originated, what they feed on, and how they reproduce. Various adaptations of fungi to their environment will be presented, examining their relationships with other organisms, their defense and attack strategies, and their dispersal methods. We will also discuss the consumption of fungi for food, their use for other purposes, and the associated dangers. The lecture will be delivered by the exhibition's author, mycologist Dr. Jonas Kasparavičius, who has been researching the mysterious world of fungi for over 30 years. The lecture is part of a series of events accompanying the exhibition, and admission is free and open to everyone. Join us on August 19, at 6 PM, at Markučiai Manor.
