The Sound of M. K. Čiurlionis's Vilnius | POVILAS NORKŪNAS
This summer, the ongoing concert series "The Sound of Čiurlionis's Vilnius" returns to the M. K. Čiurlionis House! Povilas Norkūnas is an increasingly renowned young concert pianist who gives performances every year on the most prominent stages in Lithuania. Lithuanian audiences have repeatedly seen Povilas's musical interpretations at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, the Sapieha Palace and the Palace of the Grand Dukes, St. Catherine's Church, Vilnius Town Hall, the "Organum" concert hall, Paliesius Manor, and other concert venues across the country. Beyond his homeland, Povilas has also been expanding into other countries, having already performed at Gödöllő Palace in Hungary and the Temple du Bas in Switzerland. At the age of seven, Povilas began his relationship with music at the Balys Dvarionas Ten-Year Music School. He continued his musical education at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Art, later refined his skills under Prof. Jurgis Karnavičius at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and since 2025 has been studying at the Hannover University of Music, Drama and Media with Prof. Ewa Kupiec. Alongside his concert activity, Povilas actively takes part in competitions. At the 10th International Stasys Vainiūnas Piano Competition held in March 2026, he won 1st place along with concert prizes in Lithuania. Other notable achievements include 1st place at the 4th International "Lisztofonija" Piano Competition, reaching the semifinals of the 9th International M. K.
