Theatrical Tours at VU Library | Culture Night

On June 12, Vilnius will be abuzz as residents and guests immerse themselves in the events of Kultūros naktis (Culture Night). The corridors and halls of Vilnius University Library will also be lively – during theatrical tours, stories from past eras will once again come to life! This magical night will begin with a solemn 18th-century defense of scientific theses, where dedications to patrons will be read and the latest scientific truths will be proven. After listening to them, the guide will lead the attendees to a literary trial, which promises to be very stormy. In the dock is Aldous Huxley's book “Brave New World,” published in 1932. Together with the university community, a verdict will be announced – is this book merely a fantasy, or a prophetic vision after all? Are we programmed to obey the system? Do technologies affect our spiritual culture? This extraordinary journey into the past will also take you to a 19th-century meeting of the Vilnius Medical Society, held in the magnificent P. Smuglevičius Hall. There, esteemed doctors will discuss the hottest medical news and health problems of Vilnius residents. Visitors will be offered more than one wellness tip, and perhaps even be able to take home… a tincture recipe. Important information: Participation in the event is possible only with prior registration. Registration is done by phone at +370 5 268 7103.
