Tour. Didžioji Pohulianka – the Street Where History and Human Destinies Meet.

I invite you on a tour of the colourful and grand Didžioji Pohulianka, known today as J. Basanavičiaus Street. On this tour we will travel through time: you will learn how the street grew and changed in the 19th century, how small gardeners' cottages gave way to luxurious apartment buildings, and which people shaped the history and face of this street. You will hear inspiring and sometimes dramatic stories about those who lived, created, loved, and were connected to Didžioji Pohulianka. We will recall the most important historical events that took place here and in which J. Basanavičius — after whom the street was later named — was involved. During the tour you will see the building that for a long time was the tallest in Lithuania, and you will discover what made it exceptional. So I invite you to stroll along Pohulianka together, leaf through people's stories, recall the living past of Vilnius and the city's places of memory.
