Tour of Vilnius University for tips

According to A. H. Kirkor, the Jesuit monks of Vilnius University sold sweet vodka and snuff and earned so much that they built the magnificent Vingis Palace with the proceeds. This is just one of many fascinating details from the university's long history. Why did the university change its name more than 10 times, and why was the street beside it paved with wooden blocks? What was the everyday life of the monks and students like, and for which offences could you be sent to the punishment cell? Where in the historic ensemble are the zodiac signs, the Saints John and the figures of Lithuanian ancestors hidden? During the tour we will visit the Vilnius University ensemble and its courtyards, St. Johns' Church and a remarkable attraction in the lobby of the Faculty of Philology – P. Repšys' fresco „The Seasons“. Admission to the Vilnius University ensemble is paid: Adults €3; School pupils €2; Free – for staff and VU students. The tour is free, but at the end you may thank the guide with a tip. Start: 11:00, Universiteto g. 3. The Library Courtyard opposite the Presidential Palace.
