Tour "The Birth of a Nation in Struggle"

One of the greatest mysteries of Lithuanian history is how we are still here. Many of the nations or tribes that once surrounded us dissolved and disappeared in the whirlpools of history, while our people and country, though battered, survived, overcame numerous hardships, and even dare to try to begin a new era of prosperity. This was determined by many circumstances, and even a scientific conference would not be enough to discuss them all. However, on our weekend tour, we would like to invite you to discuss warfare – how our ancestors persistently, stubbornly, or with unexpected vigor and ingenuity defended or even expanded their lands. Using the exhibits accumulated in the exposition of the National Museum of Lithuania, we will discuss what weapons, warfare methods, and innovations our predecessors used, how they compensated for their technological, quantitative, or other shortcomings, how the Baltic tribes differed, and what influence all of this might have had on the emergence of the Lithuanian state.
