Tour: (UN)FORGOTTEN REBELS OF 20TH CENTURY VILNIUS

This is the second Miestinėjimai route dedicated to exploring the extraordinary stories of Vilnius women. The stories in this walk are about rebellious women who were destined to live in the last century – a true age of change. Governments and money changed, empires collapsed, new states emerged, occupations and wars plagued the land, but the heroines of this tour lived bravely – they worked, created, taught (and learned), persevered, resisted, changed, searched, protected, wrote, and walked on untrodden paths of great deeds. Together, we will discover unjustly forgotten women of Vilnius: Maria, Beatrice, Anna, Marcella, Helena, Judith, Emily, Sarah, and other rebels. During the walk, you will hear stories about: a spy's operation to save Lithuania; the journey to becoming the city's first female doctor; the youngest Jewish partisan in Vilnius; a queen without a throne who cared for Vilnius children; a creator who created for people, not chasing contemporary fashions; an anarchist who became the first Righteous Among the Nations in Lithuania; a poet whose verses pulse with the city, and a visionary who managed to turn every "no" into a "yes". 🔸 Important: The narratives and characters of this tour do not overlap with those in the "(Ne)pamirštos Vilniaus moterys" tour, making it suitable for both new enthusiasts and those continuing their collection of stories about Vilnius women. ⏳ Duration: 2 - 2.15 hours 📌 Start: Margučio Square (Pylimo St.) 🏁 End: Vilniaus St. Please have your ticket saved on your phone.
