Tour "Unforgotten Rebels" | European Archaeology Days
On June 14 at 12:00 PM, we invite you to the tour "Unforgotten Rebels". Archaeological research that began on Gediminas Hill in early 2017 lasted for several years, and its results are extremely significant. It was here that the remains of the leaders and participants of the 1863–1864 uprising were found. What made Gediminas Hill and its surroundings special in 1863-1864? Why and under what circumstances did the rebels' bodies end up on the hill? Why was this particular spot chosen to hide the victims of the uprising killed in public executions? During the tour, we will not only seek answers to these questions, but you will also have the opportunity to see the finds discovered during the archaeological excavations. Where? At the Lithuanian National Museum's Gediminas Castle Tower exhibition (Arsenalo St. 5, Vilnius) When? June 14, 12:00 PM The event is free!
