Traditional Straw Ornament (Sodas) Weaving Workshop

Žolinė (the Feast of the Assumption) is a time to begin celebrating the fruits given to us this year by Mother Earth. Why not mark the occasion by weaving a straw "sodas" (a traditional Lithuanian straw ornament)? Let it spin from the ceiling as a token of thanks for the summer meadows in bloom, the swaying grain, and the buzzing of bees. To mark Žolinė, we invite you to a straw "sodas" weaving workshop at the Istorijų namai (House of Stories). Beginners are welcome. We'll share knowledge about preparing the straw and the finer points of weaving, and everyone will make their own small "sodas" decorated with a little sun. We'll also take a look around the Lithuanian National Museum's ethnography storage-exhibition, where you can see a collection of extraordinarily beautiful straw "sodai". Who is it for?
