Tuskulėnai Victims Remembrance Day

82 years ago, on September 28, 1944, the first executions were carried out at the NKGB (MGB) internal prison in Vilnius of individuals known today as the Tuskulėnai victims. By April 16, 1947, the death sentence had been carried out on 767 individuals (another 7 died in prison before their death sentence was carried out). In 2006 the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania declared September 28 the Tuskulėnai Victims Remembrance Day and included it in the list of memorable dates. To mark this anniversary, we invite you to events dedicated to the memory of the Tuskulėnai victims: 10:00–17:00 OPEN DOOR DAY Free admission to the exhibitions of the Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights (Aukų g. 2A) and the Tuskulėnai Peace Park memorial complex (Žirmūnų g. 1F, 1N). 14:00–14:30 UNVEILING OF THE MODEL OF THE TUSKULĖNAI PEACE PARK MEMORIAL COMPLEX TERRITORY (Manor House courtyard, Žirmūnų g. 1F) Authors of the model: sculptor Gediminas Piekuras, architect Algirdas Rasimavičius, architect Liepa Taugintaitė, 3D printing engineer Rokas Ankudavičius. Bronze casting by sculptor Tomas Vosylius. 14:30–15:00 TOUR OF THE TUSKULĖNAI PEACE PARK MEMORIAL COMPLEX 15:00–15:30 HOMAGE TO THE TUSKULĖNAI VICTIMS IN THE CHAPEL-COLUMBARIUM A video installation titled „The River of Silence of Tuskulėnai“, created specially for the Tuskulėnai memorial chapel-columbarium by renowned film director Oleksandr Dirdovskyi (Ukraine), will be shown. Beneath Gitenis Umbrasas's golden mosaic depicting bird wings – the Swan, the Falcon and the Owl, symbolising Happiness, Freedom and Fate – a virtual River of Silence will appear. Creative team: director, cinematographer – Oleksandr Dirdovskyi (Ukraine), composer – Mindaugas Urbaitis („Lacrimosa“ performed by the National Youth Choir of Great Britain, dir. Mike Brewer), editor, cinematographer – Larysa Dirdovska (Ukraine), editing – Igor Koziyanchuk (Ukraine). During the tribute, internationally acclaimed pianist Kasparas Uinskas will perform. Music by Johann Sebastian Bach will be heard.
