(Un)Forgotten Women of Vilnius Tour
It is said: „cherchez la femme“ (look for the woman), and this walk has found fascinating visionaries of Vilnius, pioneers in their fields, women who lived in the most diverse times – from the 16th to the 20th century. Vilnius women not only loved and adorned themselves but also performed feats, created culture, and shaped history. Together, we will discover unjustly forgotten women of Vilnius: Sophia, Felicia, Julia, Elizabeth, Maria, Bona, Fania, Clara, and other visionaries. You will hear stories about one of the first two female presidential candidates in Europe, the author of the first censored book in independent Lithuania, the pioneer of Italian fashion in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (GDL), the patron of the first Vilnius Observatory, and the creator of the first vegetarian cookbook in Yiddish in Europe. Like all „Miestinėjimai“ tours, this one is also full of interactive game elements: sounds, objects, trinkets, and bags designed to tickle curiosity and imagination.⌛ Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes.📌 Start: Square near the Church of the Holy Cross, Daukanto Sq., Vilnius.🏁 End: Vokiečių St. Please have your ticket saved on your phone. Tickets for the tour are non-exchangeable and non-refundable, except when the tour is canceled or rescheduled by the event organizers.
