VIENUDU live + Agnė Matulevičiūtė and Marta Finkelštein
This year the Vilnius dance theatre "Low Air" marks its 15th creative anniversary and invites everyone to celebrate together. On August 20, audiences can look forward to a special performance of the dance piece "Vienudu" ("Just the Two of Us"), created by author and concept designer Airida Gudaitė together with co-creators Laurynas Žakevičius and Rokas Šaltenis, with live music performed by composer and electronic music artist Agnė Matulevičiūtė and pianist, performer and music curator Marta Finkelštein . One evening, two duets – a unique artistic experience For a single evening at the Sapieha Palace, two worlds will meet – dance and live music – as two duets take to the stage. The breaking moves of the dance tandem Laurynas Žakevičius and Rokas Šaltenis will merge with the live musical fabric created by the duo of Agnė Matulevičiūtė and Marta Finkelštein. All of this will unfold within a historic baroque architectural space, creating a multifaceted and unforgettable artistic experience. Composer Agnė Matulevičiūtė and pianist Marta Finkelštein have been creating together since 2021, when they found common ground by blending the piano with analog and modular synthesizers. With no equivalent in Lithuania in terms of its makeup, the duo reveals the diverse expressive possibilities of today's music, combining acoustic and electronic elements while keeping the focus on keyboard instruments. The dance performance "Vienudu" is an artistic exploration of the canons of hip-hop dance identity, inviting the audience to see breaking as an art form. The duet of dancers Laurynas Žakevičius and Rokas Šaltenis is built as a dialogue with another – though at its core, with oneself. By exploring the movements and flow of breaking alongside Lithuanian folk dance, the piece searches for a physical, tangible form through which male dancer identity can unfold. This evening opens the "Low Air 15" event series – a celebration of fifteen years of creative work. It is an invitation to look back at the journey of theatre co-founders Airida Gudaitė and Laurynas Žakevičius, their whole team, and the community they have gathered, through which the language of urban dance in Lithuania has become an important and inseparable part of contemporary performing arts. The partner of the event "VIENUDU live + Agnė Matulevičiūtė and Marta Finkelštein" is the Sapieha Palace. More about the performance: https://lowair.lt/teatras/vienudu/ .
