Vilnius Art Festival '26 | Culture Night

On June 12th, the streets of Vilnius Old Town become a painting workshop — and the stage for Culture Night. The Vilnius Art Festival '26 takes place under the theme "150 Years of Colours. Paths of Painting: from Žmuidzinavičius to Today", dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of the painter, educator and founder of the Lithuanian Artists' Association, Antanas Žmuidzinavičius. "Žmuidzinavičius was the first to understand that a painter in Lithuania cannot work alone – he needs community, structure, dialogue. This festival is an invitation to continue that conversation: with history, with the city's spaces, with everyone who wishes to pick up a brush." – the festival organisers emphasise. 15:00–18:00 — Plein-air Painting Vokiečių and Aušros Vartų streets, Moniuška and Rudininkai squares Artists, students and schoolchildren create directly in the city's public spaces. Everyone is invited to watch and join in. 18:00 — Elinga Garuolytė's performance "The Celebration" , Lithuanian Artists' Association Gallery, Vokiečių g. 2. A performance about ecology, plastic and the colour magenta as a symbol of victory. 19:00 — Almantas Kunskas' "BALTICA: ACT No. 1" , Vokiečių g., near the monument to Barbora Radvilaitė. A fashion collection-performance about Baltic regional identity (supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture). From 19:00 — Open Drawing Session of the Secret Drawers' Society , Vokiečių g., near the Lithuanian Artists' Association Gallery. An informal artists' group active for more than 20 years invites the public to watch live drawing with a model. 20:00 — Performances "By Different Paths" (Greta Balčiūnaitė) and "Invasion" (Eglė Ganda Bogdanienė), Vokiečių g., near the LAS Projects Space.
