Vilnius: Samogitian Strong? Absolutely!

Did you know that Vilnius has a Samogitian character? This journey begins at the monument to King Mindaugas, where the first foundations of our state were laid – foundations that, I dare say, were distinctly Samogitian in their strength! After all, our great rulers – from Mindaugas and Gediminas to Vytautas – built their power by relying precisely on the loyalty and unbreakable fortitude of the Samogitians! Do you think Vilnius is just about princely dreams and baroque curves? What if I told you that without Samogitian stubbornness, Vilnius would sound completely different today: from the dust on Simonas Daukantas' shoes to the intrigues of Žemaitė's "scarf" and the strong characters who shaped the capital? And what if the closure of Vilnius University hadn't "extinguished" the Lithuanianist movement of Samogitian nobles at the beginning of the 19th century, and this movement had grown into a huge national revival with a powerful Samogitian code?! How would Vilnius residents speak today…? Come to the "Samogitian Strong Vilnius" tour and discover the city through the prism of its character. The tour is free, but you can show your appreciation to the guide with a tip at the end. Advance registration is required by email: [email protected] or phone: +37064897472 (SMS with your name and number of participants) or www.gerosekskursijos.lt
