Look Out from the High Towers | Vytautas Rumsas (narrator) and Alexander Paley (piano)
Such are the wonders of spring: the sun, queen and enchantress, unlocked the earth with golden keys and let out the grass. Without pride, she visited the bogs and the thickets. Reviving the plants, the animals, and humanity, she rose high above the towers of Vilnius and the grove of Antakalnis. More light, more warmth - more joy, more life. Spring is the most musical of seasons. The concert will feature a string ensemble and choirs, cello, flute, trumpet, saxophone, marimba, harp and, of course, piano. The finest violins and other string instruments were made by Italian masters in Cremona. And who created the first piano? A Florentine master, Christofori, in 1711. For over three hundred years the piano has sounded around the world. And who invented and built a piano in Lithuania? A true marvel - our great poet Kristijonas Donelaitis. It is no easy task for little fingers to span the seven octaves of a grand piano, 88 keys. Patience is an essential virtue for musicians. A piece must be rehearsed perhaps 100 or 1,000 times, so that on the 1,001st it can be performed on a great stage. But the children have excellent teachers and a great master in M. K. Ciurlionis. His art and words show the true path: "Look out from the high towers, and you will feel the way"; "The wider a person spreads their wings, the greater the circle they describe, the better they will be, the happier." The concert finale will be crowned by Saint-Saens' popular "Carnival of the Animals". Actor Ignas Guzauskas will take part in the concert. Performing: children of the VsI "Three Muses", pupils of the National M. K. Ciurlionis School of Arts Author: Zina Puisiene Choreography: Inga Kibildiene and Olga Kraujeliene Artist: Ruta Veliute
