Lithuanian Railway Museum
The Lithuanian Railway Museum is one of the most impressive and underrated museums in Vilnius, located directly on the grounds of Vilnius Railway Station. The outdoor exhibition features dozens of historic locomotives, passenger carriages, steam engines, and special machinery - you can climb on them, touch them, and photograph them freely. The indoor exhibition covers old railway control technology, communication equipment, uniforms, and the history of Lithuanian railways from the 19th century. An ideal place for families with children: kids explore authentic locomotives while parents learn about industrial history. The museum is right next to the main railway station, making it easy to combine with a city trip or a day trip to Trakai. Admission is symbolic, visit takes 1-2 hours.
