We invite you to explore the magnificent treasures of the Vilnius Archcathedral. The Treasury of Vilnius Archcathedral is the oldest and richest of all the treasuries preserved in the churches of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Rulers, nobles, and bishops donated luxurious liturgical items—crosses, chalices, reliquaries, and monstrances—to the newly established cathedral. These works of sacred art are expressive testaments to the tradition of piety and masterpieces of the goldsmith's art.
Hidden away during wars, the treasury was last concealed on the eve of World War II and remained hidden until 1985; during the tour, you will hear the story of its mysterious discovery. Along with your guide, you will also visit the Church of St. Michael the Archangel and the former Bernardine monastery—an impressive Renaissance ensemble built on the initiative of Leonas Sapiega (1557–1633), Chancellor of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, which became the mausoleum of the founder's family.
