Tour „Medieval Vilnius: A Health Detective Story”

I invite you on a journey through time, through the lives of rulers and ordinary residents of Vilnius! The narrow, winding streets of the city back then didn't smell of coffee or perfume; hard-to-diagnose and incurable illnesses were often seen as inevitable, and the plague would sometimes devastate and empty the entire city. I invite you to discover how old Vilnius lived: Since when, and how, did doctors, barber-surgeons and apothecaries work here, and how did they get along with herbalists, sorcerers and bathhouse keepers? Who took care of the sick, the infirm, the lonely, or those who had lost their means of living, and how? Who cared about the general sanitation, hygiene and wellbeing of the city's residents? Tour route: Cathedral Square, Odminių St., L. Stuokos-Gucevičiaus St., Universiteto St., Šv. Jono St., Pilies St., Didžioji St., Literatų St., Maironio St., Užupis (Bernardine Bridge).
