Belmontas

Belmontas is one of those places in Vilnius that doesn't feel like part of the city. Just 6 kilometers from the Old Town, but the environment is completely different: a mill building along the river, a terrace cafe among the trees, an outdoor terrace above the Vilnia, and right at your feet – a path into the forest. Belmontas is located in Pavilniai Regional Park, on the eastern edge of the city, where the Vilnia river winds between steep slopes and old oak groves. The area has a history – in the 19th century, a water mill operated here, later – several enterprises that used the river's energy. Today, the same building is a restaurant and cafe, which can be identified by the outline of the old mill. Currently, Belmontas is best known as a summer spot: an outdoor terrace on the riverbank, where you can drink coffee or dine with a view of the greenery. But you can also come here in winter – the interior is warm, wooden, with high ceilings and brick walls. From Belmontas, it's convenient to start Pučkoriai Cognitive Trail – one of the most beautiful walking routes in Vilnius. The trail starts near the mill, leads through the Vilnia valley and ascends to Pučkoriai Exposure – the highest exposure in Lithuania, offering a wide view of the valley. The nearby Pučkoriai Exposure allows you to see the Vilnia valley from one of the most impressive viewpoints in Vilnius. Belmontas is located in Pavilniai Regional Park, so it's easy to combine it with a longer walk through the eastern natural part of Vilnius. Belmontas is suitable for a couple's outing, an active weekend for a family with children, or simply an escape from the city – without a long drive.
