Office of the President of the Republic of Lithuania
The Presidential Palace of the Republic of Lithuania is the official residence and workplace of the Lithuanian head of state, located on S. Daukanto Square in Vilnius Old Town. The Classicist palace complex, built in the 19th century, hosts the most important state receptions, negotiations with foreign delegations and official ceremonies. The main building stands out for its austere classical façade and ornate interior. On national holidays and open-door days, visitors can explore the ceremonial halls, view an original copy of the Constitution and other historic exhibits. An honour guard stands watch at the gates at all times. The Presidential Palace grounds form one of the most representative ensembles in Vilnius Old Town . Nearby stand Vilnius Cathedral and Gediminas Avenue, making the palace a natural stop on any walk through the historic centre. A visit to the Presidential Palace is a unique opportunity to sense the depth of Lithuanian statehood traditions and to see the place where the most important diplomatic decisions are made.
