Pūčkoriai Cliffs
Pūčkoriai Exposure – one of the most beautiful panoramic places in Vilnius, where the capital opens up from a completely different angle. Upon arrival, you are greeted not by the old town towers or city streets, but by the Vilnia River valley, green slopes of Pavilniai Regional Park, forests, and views of the historic Pūčkoriai surroundings. This is the highest and one of the most impressive exposures in Lithuania. Its height reaches about 65 meters, and its width is about 260 meters. In 1974, Pūčkoriai Exposure was declared a natural monument, and today it is protected in Pavilniai Regional Park, in the Pūčkoriai Landscape Reserve. From the exposure, one of the most beautiful natural panoramas of Vilnius unfolds. From here, you can see the bends of the Vilnia River, the hills and forests of Pavilniai Regional Park, Pūčkoriai Manor, the territory of the former cannon foundry, and in the distance – the remains of Belmontas Mill's old dam. Pūčkoriai Exposure is interesting not only for its view. It is also a geological object, allowing a glimpse into the formation of the Vilnia Valley, the layers left by the Ice Age, and the naturally formed landscape. The steep slope, the river bend below, and the forested hills create a feeling that you are far from the city, even though you are actually still in Vilnius. For visitors, observation decks, stairs, wooden paths, terraces, resting areas, and gazebos have been installed here. In 2013, the renovated Pūčkoriai Exposure observation trail was opened, making this place more convenient for both a short stop and a longer walk. From the exposure, it is also convenient to start the Pūčkoriai Educational Trail . Traveling along it, the exposure can be seen not only from above but also from below, walking along the Vilnia Valley. It is officially stated that on the Pūčkoriai Educational Trail, you can choose circular routes of 2.8 km, 3.7 km, or 5.3 km, and it is worth planning 1 to 3 hours for the walk. This is a place suitable not only for nature lovers. Pūčkoriai Exposure will appeal to photographers, families with children, city guests, Vilnius residents looking for active leisure, and everyone who wants to see a greener, calmer side of Vilnius. It is worth coming here for a short visit – just for the panorama, or for a longer walk, combining the exposure with the Pūčkoriai Educational Trail , Belmontas , and Pavilniai Regional Park. Pūčkoriai Exposure is one of those places in Vilnius that allows you to quickly escape the city rhythm without leaving the city. In a few minutes, you can find yourself above the Vilnia Valley, hear nature, see forests, and feel a completely different atmosphere of the capital. This is one of the best places in Vilnius if you want a beautiful view, a short walk, or an impressive photo. And if you have more time, from here you can embark on the Pūčkoriai Educational Trail and see this area not only from above but also from the bottom of the valley.
