Trakai Voke Manor
Trakai Voke Manor is a unique Vilnius attraction where manor culture, architecture, nature, and living city history meet. The manor is located in the southwestern part of Vilnius, in Trakai Voke, on a hill near the Voke river valley. Mentioned in written sources since 1618, it was acquired by the Tiskeviciai family in the mid-19th century. It was during their time that Voke became the family's main residence, and between 1875 and 1880, a new historicism-style palace was built here. Today's ensemble consists of a palace with columns, a Neo-Gothic chapel - the Tiskeviciai mausoleum, stables, a bell tower with turrets, red gates, and other historical buildings. The manor's architecture combines features of Neoclassicism, Neo-Baroque, and Neo-Gothic, characteristic of the Historicism period. One of the manor's greatest assets is its park, established in 1884 and reconstructed between 1898-1900 according to the design of the famous French landscape architect Edouard Francois Andre - the same who designed the parks of Palanga, Uzutrakis, and Lentvaris. Today, the manor park covers approximately 22 hectares: old paths, deciduous alleys, ponds, a fountain, and the Voke river valley allow one to experience a quieter, greener side of Vilnius. The palace is open to visitors: tours, educational programs, exhibitions, concerts, and cultural events are organized here. The manor's interiors are also favored by filmmakers - during tours, one can learn which details are authentic and which appeared as film decorations. The park is a freely accessible open space.
