Vilnius TV Tower
Vilnius TV Tower – the tallest structure in Lithuania and across all three Baltic states – rises 326.5 metres and is visible from every point in the city. It is not merely an engineering landmark: the tower is also a symbol of Lithuanian freedom, whose defence on the night of 13 January 1991 every Lithuanian remembers. Observation Deck: Vilnius as a Map The observation deck at 165 metres offers an uninterrupted 360-degree panorama. On a clear day you can see not just all of Vilnius and its Old Town rooftops, but the distant Trakai lakes and castle, the Neris valley, and the city's southern districts. Glass floor sections allow you to look straight down – a 165-metre-deep perspective that delivers a genuine adrenaline rush. Outdoor Terrace: City Air For the more adventurous – an open-air outdoor observation terrace, where you can walk at the top of the tower, in the open air, with all of Vilnius underfoot. One of the few such experiences in the Baltic states – a feeling no photograph can convey. Paukščių Takas: Rotating Restaurant At the top, the restaurant "Paukščių Takas" (Milky Way) completes a full rotation in 45 minutes, revealing the whole of Vilnius from a bird's-eye view. Ideal for a romantic dinner, a celebratory lunch, or simply coffee with a view. A hotel room with panoramic windows offers an extraordinary overnight experience above the city. January 13th: The Price of Freedom On the night of 13 January 1991, Soviet troops stormed the tower. Fourteen unarmed defenders were killed. This event became a turning point – the world witnessed the price of Lithuanian freedom. The exhibition and memorial on the ground floor tell the full story of that night, the Sąjūdis movement, and the road to independence. A visit here complements any tour of the Cathedral , the House of Signatories , and other freedom-related sites. Practical Information The tower is on Sausio 13-osios Street in the Karoliniškės district, about 4 km from the Old Town. Reachable by bus or taxi.
