“Once upon a time there were three little pigs: Nifas, Nufas and Nafas. Each built himself a house: one of straw, one of sticks and one of bricks. When the wicked Wolf attacked them, he destroyed the weaker houses, and all the brothers hid in Nafas's brick house. Then, together, they defeated the Wolf too.”
Everyone, children and adults alike, has known this tale well for a long time. And you might wonder: what new ideas could anyone possibly come up with? Yet puppeteers, especially at the Lėlė theatre, turn out to be very inventive. They have staged this tale no fewer than four times: in 1963, 1977, 1980 and 1999. And all these productions were different.
In its latest version of “The Three Little Pigs”, the Lėlė theatre offers a cheerful, musical, improvisational and entertaining spectacle for both children and their parents.... A small troupe of travelling performers takes to the stage: three comedians and a Ballerina. They are preparing to perform the tale of the three little pigs for the audience. However, the performers' plans are badly disrupted by a Caretaker with his excessive ambitions to be a performer himself. In trying to hinder the performers, he actually helps them and thus finds his place in life. The musically gifted Irmantas Jankaitis shines in the role of the Caretaker / Wolf in this production. The role provides a rewarding opportunity for the many facets of his performing talent to shine.
