Contemporary Art Centre
The Contemporary Art Centre (CAC) is the most important contemporary art institution in Lithuania and one of the most significant in the Baltic states. Located in a historic building on Vokiečių Street in Vilnius Old Town, the CAC has since 1992 presented the boldest and most relevant international and Lithuanian contemporary art exhibitions. The centre organises dozens of exhibitions each year – from painting and sculpture to video art, performance and installations. The CAC is particularly known as a platform for young and experimental artists. It also has an excellent specialised art bookshop with unique cultural souvenirs and publications. The CAC is on Vokiečių Street, close to Town Hall Square and Užupis . A must-visit for anyone interested in contemporary art and wanting to understand the Vilnius and Lithuanian art scene. Free lectures, discussions and cultural events are frequently held.
